Photographer Andrew Jackson portrait
Hi, and thank you for stopping by my web site.

My name is Andrew Jackson. I was born and raised in Owen Sound, Ontario. Living right next to the Niagara Escarpment, I spent a great deal of my youth hiking along the Bruce trail. In 2000 I moved to London Ontario, were I reside today. I frequently hike the trails and wander through the woods in the parks and natural areas of London. Being a city of approximately 350,000 people, London has a great deal of forested land which is where it gets its name the Forrest City. I couldn't imagine living in an area that didn't offer many natural retreats.

I became interested in Photography in late 2006 when I acquired my first point and shoot digital camera. My interest for wildlife photography really picked up when I purchased a more advanced point and shoot camera. The Sony H5, otherwise known as a bridge camera. It had a 12x optical zoom (432mm equivalent), which allowed me to bring the subjects much closer. In 2010, I made the jump into the dSLR world of photography by purchasing the Nikon D90. This introduced me further into the technical aspect of photography, allowed me to be more creative and improved image quality. I am constantly learning and having a blast at the same time.

I have always had a love and appreciation for nature and wildlife. When I got into photography, that appreciation grew immensely. It quickly became my main hobby. It combined my love for the outdoors, with the challenge and excitement of getting that perfect shot or coming across a rare find. The thing I would have to say I like the most is that each day is different. You never know what to expect or what you will see. Experiencing many of the wonders nature has to offer and bringing home photos and memories. I could not think of any better hobby to have.
